Tilehurst pubs lose booze licences
Report Courtesy of Reading Evening Post Two Tilehurst pubs had their alcohol licenses suspended for one week on Friday. The Plough Inn and The Prince of Wales, both in School Road, failed two test purchases after serving booze to underage boys earlier this year. The pubs cannot serve alcohol while their licences are suspended. At a licensing meeting in the Civic Centre on Friday both were also asked to ensure they become regular members of the Tilehurst Pubwatch scheme and keep a logbook of all refusals. Chairwoman of the committee, councillor Jeanette Skeats, said all licensees had a duty to protect children and young people against the sale of alcohol and that the council take a hard line towards anyone caught breaking the law. The Manager in the White Hart in Everlsey is incouraging people to buy achohol and then letting them drive their cars home. This needs to be stopped Posted 08 Feb 2010
